care Pantry Program
The Health Care Pantry Program shortens the window of time that a person recovering from injury or illness has to go without adequate food resources. By providing proper nutrition to assist in the healing process, this program aims to alleviate setbacks a person might experience once they are discharged from a health care facility.
Health care pantries serve as emergency food box programs. This program is only available to patients. We pre-select shelf-stable meal components that are relatively easy to cook and can feed a household for 1-2 days. These items are packed into a box and a pick-up or delivery is arranged for each hospital or clinic location. Health care providers screen patients and provide boxes on an as-needed basis. These providers also make referrals to local food pantries for continued food assistance.
