Heather infuses her life with kindness, generosity, and service because she knows firsthand that anyone can be just one paycheck away from needing some extra support.
Seven years ago, Heather faced significant complications from her pregnancy with her twin daughters, Olivia and Victoria. Lingering chronic health challenges from the pregnancy as well as autoimmune issues took away her ability to work. Not long after the birth of their daughters, her husband – a combat Veteran – lost his small business. And in a very short time, Heather and her family’s life changed.
“After my husband lost his job, we went from a middle-class family to a family struggling with food insecurity. [We] are both college-educated, worked for many, many years, and we've always helped people. To be on this side of it and struggling, it's not what's supposed to happen.”
Heather and her family unexpectedly found themselves seeking assistance, just like many neighbors in our 50-county service area. Thankfully, they had access to a food pantry like the ones empowered by God’s Pantry Food Bank.
Now, instead of worrying about food, Heather’s household can focus on resting and connecting during the holidays. And while the family is still facing a challenging time, they still find ways to give to others, and their optimism and hope abounds.
We hope you and your loved ones have a warm and nourished holiday season!
Thank you for helping ensure that our neighbors in Central and Eastern Kentucky can do the same.
