Building the Future,
Nourishing Communities

The God’s Pantry Food Bank ‘Building the Future, Nourishing Communities’ capacity campaign for Kentucky’s future is a $40 Million transformational effort to ensure that no child, individual, or family goes hungry in our community. With the expanded space and infrastructure, the Food Bank is now equipped to meet the current need of 50 million meals and scale up to 60 million meals annually, bringing the organization closer to its vision: a nourished life for every Kentuckian.
God’s Pantry Food Bank is facing challenges to meet the growing needs of our community, including capacity issues at food storage buildings, the inability to process healthy food on-site, and the need for increased spending on purchasing food due to rising costs and declining food donations.
According to recent data, nearly 265,000 people in Central and Eastern Kentucky are experiencing hunger. This number, which will likely grow again in 2025 based on USDA data, represents real people who are going to bed unfed every night. Our rural communities have been especially impacted, with 10 of the nation’s 25 most food-insecure counties in our service area.
Campaign investments will also enable the Food Bank to purchase food, sustain the Food Rescue Program, invest in additional program expansion, sustain growth, and invest in partner food pantries and meal programs.
