This month, God’s Pantry Food Bank is participating in the inaugural nationwide Hunger Action Month. Local events, volunteer opportunities and fundraisers will raise support for the thousands of individuals living on the brink of hunger in Lexington and across central and eastern Kentucky.
In doing so, God’s Pantry Food Bank joins the other food banks of the Feeding America network that are conducting similar events across the country.
• All month long you can engage in the fight against hunger by taking part in “30 Ways in 30 Days.” This list will give you ideas of things you can do to become involved and educated on the issue of hunger. Download the complete list here! or check back daily to our website as we highlight a new way!
• Dine Out Against Hunger gives patrons the opportunity to visit several central Kentucky restaurants on specific days in which a portion of that restaurant’s proceeds will go directly to God’s Pantry Food Bank. The schedule includes: Sept. 9 at Railheads at the Depot in Versailles, Sept. 15 at bd’s Mongolian Grill in Hamburg, and Sept. 22 at The Melting Pot near the Fayette Mall.
• God’s Pantry Food Bank also is partnering with the Lexington Public Library and Joseph-Beth Booksellers to educate the public on domestic hunger through displays, events and other initiatives. All Fayette County library branches will feature reading lists and special bookmarks commemorating Hunger Action Month. Joseph-Beth Booksellers at Lexington Green also will be collecting both food and fund donations and will feature hunger as the issue of the day for its children’s story hour on Saturday, September 27 at 11 a.m. Privacy Policy | Terms & Conditions |
