Thanks to Some of Our "Smallest" Fundraisers
You don’t have to be big to make a big impact. A group of nine children from Waco, Ky., ages 2-8, recently learned firsthand about hunger and took some steps in the fight against it. The “Live Big” Kids all attend College Hill United Methodist Church in Madison County. After seeing television coverage that detailed the latest hunger statistics—like the fact that more than 41% of the households served by God’s Pantry Food Bank include children—they held a “Noisy Bucket” campaign at their church to raise money.
More than $200 later the group wanted to see where their money was going, so they visited God’s Pantry Food Bank on April 23, toured the facility, and presented Development Coordinator Kristin Ingwell Goode with a check. Group organizer Shirley Dezarn said they were particularly impressed with the fact that the food bank is so efficient with donations that it can distribute $10 worth of food for every $1 donation. Thanks to these children and their supportive church members for a great fundraising effort!
