Cooks For a Cause: 25 Cooks showdown at God’s Pantry Food Bank
Debra Hensley’s $ocial $timulus Event
Friday, February 3, 2012 – 6 p.m.

We are firing up the burners on February 3 for a cooking competition at God’s Pantry Food Bank Headquarters. It’s our own “Iron Chef” like event.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., then starting at 6 p.m. we will send five teams of five cooks scrambling for a total of one hour to prepare a delicious meal from a mystery box of ingredients. The ingredients are things a God’s Pantry Food Bank client would typically access in the organization’s Fayette County emergency food pantries. While you watch the cooking showdown, you will be invited to enjoy a cup of pipping hot soup provided by our distinguished chef judges and served to you by students from The Lexington School’s culinary arts program.

This Debra’s $ocial $timulus event is free and open to the public, but guests can help God’s Pantry Food Bank by participating in our Silent Auction.

All of Debra’s Events are about doing good while having fun. We hope to see you on February 3 at 1685 Jaggie Fox Way.

Souper Bowl of Caring Food Drive
January 21, 2012

On Sunday, February 5, 2012, two teams will meet at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for Super Bowl XLVI. While many fans will be having parties with lots of food and fun, some other families will be going without food or visiting a shelter for just one meal. We are asking you to participate in the “Souper Bowl of Caring” food drive and help to Tackle Hunger for the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl.

On January 21 (Divisional Championship weekend), we are teaming up with Lexington Kroger stores for a “Souper Service Blitz” to kick off this year’s Souper Bowl of Caring Food Drive. We are looking for area youth groups to “defend” each Kroger store from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. to help promote the food drive. If you are involved with a youth group and are interested in getting involved in this great activity, please contact Susie Basham at 859-288-5332. Kroger shoppers, be sure to look for our barrels on January 21 at your local store, make a canned food donation and help tackle hunger in 2012.
