About Us
Fayette County Emergency Food Program

The Fayette County Emergency Food Program serves clients directly through the distribution of a seven-day supply of food to 1,650 households each month.
The Emergency Food Program provides hungry families and individuals in Fayette County with a supply of wholesome food, which lasts as much as 14 days for some families. Those in need of assistance are referred by 220 local churches and social service agencies to one of our five neighborhood food pantries. An individual may receive a food box up to four times within a six-month period.

Clients are allowed to choose their food. The method is called: “Client’s Choice.”The clients are given an opportunity to pick food items to form a nutritional food selection. Food supplements are prepared from both donated and purchased food and contain the items necessary to prepare enough meals for seven to ten days. Nearly 20,000 households in Fayette County received food through our Emergency Food Program in 2011. Sadly, 40% of these clients were children.
Many of us don’t realize just how close we are to needing assistance. Unfortunate circumstances, sickness or other troubles may put us in need without any warning. God’s Pantry’s Emergency Food program helps to ensure that even in these times of need, we can put food on the table.
